In the fall of 2015, Porsche launched the 911 GT3 R, a racing car designed specifically for customers. In some ways, the GT3 R stood in the tradition of the Carrera RSR 3.0 of the seventies. More than 50 examples were sold as of 2016. The GT3 RS type 991 served as the basis for the homologation. For the R, Porsche indicated a power of around 500 horsepower for the 4-liter engine, which could be increased or reduced according to the regulations of the various championships.
